Steve Roberto, Liver Recipient

Dear family of my donor,

My name is Steve and I am 56 years old. As you grieve your loved one I want to let you know how thankful I am for the precious gift of life I have received. I don’t know if my gratitude can help your healing, but I want you to know how your loved one saved my life.

On February 2nd, 2018 I received the answer to my and my family and friends prayers, to receive a healthy liver and replace my diseased one. This is the most precious and significant gift that I have ever received. Very simply I would not have survived, and this transplant has given my family a restored hope that I will be alive for many years to come.

I will forever be grateful for this second chance at life, and my hope is that it brings you peace knowing that your loved one has given the greatest of gifts that can ever be given. I know I will never be able to thank you enough for giving me a second chance at life. I can promise you that I will try to live up to the example set by your loved one and help other people.

Please take this time to express the joy and pride your loved one would have felt by knowing how they have touched my family’s lives.

My thanks and sympathies,
Steve
