Darby Bolyard, Kidney and Liver Recipient

Hello,

My name is Darby, and I am 15 years old. Although you don’t know me, we share a connection that can never be broken. I used to be a very sick little girl. My last 4 years had been spent in and out of the hospital treating a variety of liver infections. Because I got sick so quickly and severely, I was unable to go to school. I had to give up singing in the choir, being a cheerleader, and hanging out with my friends. Definitely not a normal teenage life!

In January of 2017, I was placed on the waiting list for a liver and a kidney. As time passed, I continued to get sicker and sicker. It was very scary! In July 2017, we received a call that an offer had been received. While my family was happy for me, we immediately stopped to pray for you and your family.

How do I begin to thank somebody for giving me my life back? It’s hard to express just how much I appreciate this life-saving gift. Because of you, I’ve been able to go back to cheerleading, and I’m feeling better than I ever have in my life. I’m a member of my school’s Student Council and I was selected as the Freshman Homecoming Attendant. I attended Prom, stayed at sleepovers, and have been able to be a normal kid.

Thank you for giving me my life back!
Darby
